Warmest Thing Known
by Francine DuBois

For Pete's sake, Francine, don't write about hospital blankets any
more. Can't you write a nice poem about flowers or kittens?"
- Mittens DuBois-Dugan

I love my kitty
Enough to write a ditty:
Singing "here, kitty, kitty, kitty,
You're so pretty
And I'm so witty:
Let's go take a nap."

I love my daisy,
Mornings so hazy,
And afternoons so lazy.
You think I'm crazy
For finding love in a daisy:
But that's just who I am.

Your love is the warmest thing around,
I'll love you right into the ground,
And just lookie at what I found:
Even more flowers abound
And echoes of love resound
Because that what death means to me
