For 'the guy who can't catch you'

Melissa Thompson

Issue 14 * Summer 2004

I hope you are the melissa thompson I think you are. you know that guy for some reason you refuse to let talk to you? That's me. Maybe you will talk to me throuhg emails. I just want to learn more about you. That's your fault by the way. I am always looking for interesting people and you haev shown yourself so far to be pretty interesting. Well, if this goes through, you have my email. I got yours from a writting site. Do you write, that would be neat. So do I. I am actually working on a novel. Hope to hear from you. -- Nick S.

I am not the Melissa you think I am:
I am not destined to gaze into your eyes
Like Pikachu in Pokémon Channel, an electric connection
Between us sparking, my eyes shifting into diamonds
While you tickle my stomach after we watch sheep jump the fence.

It's my fault, by the way, that you want to learn more about me.
It's my fault I've kept hidden behind the columns, going stealth,
Playing Sam Fisher when you wanted to be Solid Snake.
"You've got a nice butt," you might say to me someday,
While running your trigger-happy fingers through your mullet.

Although I don't know who you are
And you don't know me, we can both be certain
This is not your final fantasy.

P.S. I only dig boys who can spell and proofread.
